What Is Scar Camouflage Treatment?

Most of us have SCARS.

Whether from surgery or trauma, the skin forms scar tissue during wound healing.

The problem with stretch marks is that no matter what color they are, they’re still scars.

A person's DNA dictates how the scars form and to what degree.

SPARTANS INK Scare camouflage

may help to minimize and hide a scar, if it is flat and lighter than the surrounding skin tones.

When collagen and elastin fibers tear during puberty, weight gain, or pregnancy, the skin’s color and texture is permanently damaged. Stretch marks usually fade from red or purple to white, leaving indented streaks that don’t plump back up. Retinol creams and laser treatments can help by lightening scars or promoting collagen growth. Still, there’s no real consensus on how to get rid of them.

That’s where Spartans INK tattoo shop comes in.

Offering a technique called Color Infusion using a digital tattoo pen to make stretch mark disappear.

Extraordinarily effective and very safe, our treatments can improve the appearance and irregular texture of scarring.

Using prescriptive colors and the highest-quality equipment, our expert technicians can skillfully infuse medical pigments into your scar tissue to gradually blend it away.

We can also smooth and relax the texture of scars by using digital needling to generate micro-trauma to the skin. This stimulates the body’s wound-healing response, leaving your scars more even and less taut.

 FOR SCARS ONE YEAR (+)

  • All scars must be evaluated prior to treatment to determine which course of treatment is recommended, and if you are a candidate for scar therapy. Patch tests for sensitivity and color may be required prior to procedures.

  • Scar camouflage is an exciting alternative treatment that works directly on damaged skin, relaxing and smoothing scars, also reducing stretch marks.  Essentially this treatment brings new life into damaged skin and by using a digital tattoo machine this can be done in a very quick and precise way.  When pigment is used, flesh tone colors are the options.

  • The entire basis for this type of Tattooing technique, is to glide the needle groupings across the very surface of the skin to add a light dispersion of flesh tone color to camouflage the blemish.

  • This  is not a new service to the market, it was actually invented by tattoo artists over 30 years ago.

  • Scar Camouflage works on the specific areas of affected skin only i.e. each stretch mark or only the scar.  Areas that are not affected are not treated.

  • Can be used on all colors of skin, with only dark skins are used with caution as they are prone to hyper-pigmentation.

  • 20-50% improvement can be seen in just ONE SESSION, with a course of 3 treatment recommended for best results.

  • When looking to do this service you should:  HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONSCamouflage tattooing will not completely restore skin to the way it was. It simply camouflages it and make it less noticeable to other people.

DO NOT SPEND TIME TANNING

  • The most suitable scars to treat with scar tattooing are light in color. Additionally, it is important that the scar tattoo procedure is carried out when the skin is not tanned as the success of the treatment depends on selecting pigments that are close to the natural skin tone.  If tanned skin is color matched and the tan fades, the infused pigment will not fade, leaving a noticeable demarcation between the healthy skin and the treated scar tissue.  The reverse is also a consideration and you must accept that sun exposure must be minimal once the scar has been camouflaged, as the scar will not tan like the surrounding skin.

DO NOT EXPECT OPTIMAL RESULTS IN ONE SESSION

  • Camouflage tattooing is a process, not a one-time “cure”. It is performed on “unhealthy” skin that has been damaged or altered. Its response cannot be predicted: a scar or Vitiligo patch may have areas that absorb pigment, reject it, or both. The area will look dark and red immediately after a tattooing session, and then it takes several weeks to show the healed color. This requires time and patience.

Q&A

Is my Scarring suitable for treatment?

Not all scarring can benefit from scar camouflage treatments. For best results scars should be:

  • At least 1 year old

  • Not show redness

  • Paler than the surrounding skin

  • Not noticeably sunken

What will happen during my consultation?

Your Spartan INK expert technician will carefully analyse your scarring to see if digital-needling will benefit you. We also evaluate your natural coloring and may need to out carry out 1 or 2 microscopic ‘colour-match’ tests in your scar. This ensures that the correct colors are chosen for you and the finished result is exactly what you want.

How long will treatment take?

Each treatment session takes about 1 hour and typically multiple sessions are required.

What will happen during my treatment?

For digital-needling, we use an electronic device to stimulate the skin’s natural healing response. With scar camouflage we work with multiple blends of pigment to recreate the tonal variance of your skin color. This color is matched perfectly to your skin to look as natural as possible.

Anything I need to know before I begin treatment?

It’s crucial that your skin isn’t tanned at the time of the treatment. This is because the ‘prescriptive’ skin-shade pigments need to be blended to match your natural skin color. If your tan fades, you’ll end up with a mismatch and your treated scar will look darker than the surrounding skin.

What about after treatment?

It’s important to keep sun exposure to a minimum once your scar has been camouflaged.

Will it hurt?

If your scarring has sensation, we make sure numbing agents are applied. Our clients describe the discomfort as no more than about 2 out of 10. And of course we’ll continually check to see how you’re feeling and make sure you’re comfortable.

Will I be able to go back to work straight afterwards?

Absolutely. Typically the area around your treatment may be slightly red for 72 hours, but that should be the only after-effect.

Aftercare?

Yes, please refer to the aftercare section in our website or follow this link.
